Wines of Czechia Grand Tasting
Klara’s wine career began by chance while studying cultural anthropology at Charles University in Prague in 2002. Working in a wine bar quickly turned from a way to pay the bills into a lifestyle. She continued to study wines and published several articles in Czech wine magazines (Vino Revue, Vinařský obzor and Wine & Degustation). She also graduated as a professional wine taster and took on many wine challenges. But her real sommelier and wine career began in 2006, when the now Michelin-starred restaurant La Degustation Boheme Bourgeois opened. After 6 years left as head sommelier, she was very familiar with wine and food pairings as well as service. In the meantime, from 2009, she was involved in a project of wine bars and co-founded Vinograf. It started with a small bar and expanded to many bars not only in Prague. As part of the project, she also managed a wine import company. She left the company after 13 years in 2022 to find a new challenge.
For the past two years, she has held the position of National Sommelier at the National Wine Centre. She now focuses on the education of winemakers, wine lovers and wine tasters and represents Czech wines wherever they are needed.
She has never stopped improving her theoretical and tasting skills. She started with WSET Level 3 in 2010, continued her studies at the Weinakademie in Rust in 2012 and, after a short break, graduated in November 2017 with the title The Weinakademiker. She also has a special title “The Fine and Rare wine specialist” from Palais Coburg in Vienna.
