The Wine Salon – National Wine Competition of Czechia is the country’s most prestigious and largest wine competition. As the final stage of the National Wine Competition, it brings together the finest wines selected from all sub-regional nomination contests. This esteemed event highlights the exceptional quality, rich tradition, and remarkable diversity of Czech and Moravian winemaking.

The Selection Process
Organized by the National Wine Centre, a leading institution dedicated to promoting Czech and Moravian wines, the competition follows a meticulous selection process. It begins with regional competitions held across the country, where expert panels of sommeliers, oenologists, and wine professionals evaluate the best entries. The highest-rated wines from these regional contests then advance to the national level for further rigorous tasting and assessment.
From this thorough evaluation, the top 100 wines earn the prestigious honor of being featured in the Wine Salon.
A Unique Wine Experience for IWINETC delegates
Following the competition, the winning wines are presented in an exclusive public tasting salon held throughout the year. This celebrated exhibition takes place in the historic cellars of the State Chateau in Valtice—a stunning venue in the heart of South Moravia, known as the wine capital of the Czech Republic.

As part of the IWINETC Gala Dinner Networking evening event on March 26th, IWINETC delegates will have the unique opportunity to visit the Wine Salon and sample a selection of award-winning wines (though not all 100!). This curated tasting experience offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and winemaking excellence—an ideal prelude to the IWINETC Gala Dinner at the Obelisk Winery.
